What Makes Us Special!
Care in the Garden is a leading Isle of Wight company with a social conscience. We are based at Palmers Brook Community Nursery, in Park Road, Wootton, Isle of Wight. It is the passion of John Goodenough, and run by him and his partner, Gill Smith, with the help of dedicated staff, volunteers and, of course, supported workers.
Why do we do this?
Our Vision
We hope to bring the community together through the medium of therapeutic horticulture, using gardening to change lives.
Our vision is to reach out in the community and bring down barriers by developing equality through understanding.
We are progressive - offering day care supported work placements in the field of horticulture and related skills.
Everyone feels better when they take time to connect with each other and with the nature surrounding them.

We are also developing our work buddy scheme; we have some fantastic volunteers, who work alongside our trainees and help them achieve.
We are a Community Interest Company set up in 2012, to offer supported work placements in the field of horticulture, floristry and woodwork.
Our vision is to reach out to the community and to bring down barriers by developing equality through understanding.
One of our aims is to achieve this by offering gardening based work experience placements and training to people with extra support needs.
The ethos of the company is to involve all trainees in the development of our products and services as we believe the best ideas come from those with a quiet voice.
As well as offering gardening training we also now have a woodwork department up and running (see the Splinter Wood Products page), creating products to sell. We offer to teach all skills involved in a safe and carefully supervised environment with the aim of building up their confidence and self-esteem. We recently started doing floristry and you can see what we produce on our Blossoms Floristry page.
